Prices are the signed contract figures. Heating costs are the owners' own bills for their first full winter, shared with their permission.

A family of five on a south-facing slope. Charred-larch cladding, a two-storey hall that carries winter sun to the bedrooms, and a deck that sheds its own snow.
A retired couple's house cut into the hillside above the town, bedroom on the warm uphill side and a long window over the valley lights.
A farming family beside their bean fields. One long kitchen runs the length of the house, so December sun reaches the back wall at noon.
A steep larch gable among birches near the lake, with a glazed south end and a sleeping loft under the roof. Built for a couple who work from home.
Our smallest house: a potter's home and studio, lined in spruce, with a kiln room kept outside the airtight layer so the house never overheats.
Smaller houses cost more per m² because the kitchen, bathroom and ventilation unit cost the same whatever the size.
Open houses
Twice a year an owner opens their house for an afternoon. Feel the floor by the window at −15 °C outside and ask them anything.
